My all time favorite children's book is The Monster at the End of this Book.  This book was the first book that I read by myself.  I loved the suspense, the drama and the silliness of the book.  I can remember my aunts reading me this book and being so super dramatic and funny, that I fell in love with the book.  I have read this book countless times to all three of my children, and I made sure to make it as dramatic as possible so that they get the whole experience of it as well.  There is even an interactive app that allows the the students to clean up the messes and turn the pages.  I highly recommend this for parents to read to their toddlers, and even as a read aloud in a classroom just for fun!

The Book Thief is my favorite  young adult book.  This book is one that I listened to originally, and I highly recommend the audio version.  The narrator of the book does a fabulous job, and it is so engaging.  The author, Marcus Zusak, is amazing in his phrasing and writing style.  He can convey an entire conversation and set a definite tone in a very short phrase.  The characters are so dynamic, the symbolism and use of Death as the narrator is so effective in his purpose that it is inspiring.  The plot and the story line itself is also very moving and emotionally engaging that readers can't help but get sucked into the book. I think this should be required reading in Middle or High School for both the historic lesson and the literary style benefits!
I found it virtually impossible to select only one adult book that I can claim as my favorite.  I read continuously and have read thousands upon thousands of books.  I love them all in their own way, and I go through phases where I enjoy reading for different purposes.  I love romance books, young adult books, true crime books, suspense, mystery, religious allegories....you name it.  I have very eclectic reading tastes and I will gladly talk to you about any and all books I've read.  I am always quick to offer a suggestion of a good book, and I would love to have suggestions from others. Reading is an escape, an adventure, entertainment and an education all bound together in a neat package :)

Happy Reading!!

This is my Writing Wednesday blog.  I am using it to model how easy and informal the activity can be.  I simply write whatever thoughts come to mind during the allotted time.  I do only very basic proofreading; I don't plan, edit or revise my writing.  It is truly just a way to demonstrate how easy it is to JUST WRITE!
